As a breathtaking seaside village, Fish Hoek is serenely set against an amazing blend of sun, sea, and mountains. The white sandy beaches are inviting and, as long as you stick to the areas deemed safe for swimming, it’s an incredible place to visit to enjoy the beach.

Aside from swimming, residents love to go on the hobie cat and they have their own Hobie Cat Sailing Club with a main meeting point at the Fish Hoek Beach. They have produced 5 world champions who are members of this club so it is a competitive field with some of the greatest sailors in the world. Other water sports are body surfing, wind surfing, boogie boarding and kayaking.

Not far from the 1.5 kilometre beach is the Fish Hoek Galley, which is where locals go to sit and enjoy each other’s company on a relaxing weekend. Food is good and the specialty is natural seafood; and there is always that off-chance of seeing a whale while enjoying your favorite meal.

In Fish Hoek, things are practically beside on another and as long as you’re not rushing to go anywhere, you won’t even need a car. Most places are close by, like the Jager Walk which is also known as Fish Corner or Cat Walk. The stretch of Jager Walk takes you from Fish Hoek Beach to Sunny Cove. You will be strolling along a scenic promenade with the rocky terrain and residential units on one side and an incredible sea view on the other. Along the way, you pass the railway and a lot of interesting and inviting restaurants.

With the combination of the area’s natural beauty and the quaint character of the local houses, shops and restaurants, it is of little wonder that so many South Africans who can appreciate the finer things in life are interested in the property for sale in Fish Hoek.

Peers Cave is more a popular tourist spot than a place you’d find locals patronizing. But they will be more than willing to direct anyone how to get to the caves seeing as they represent one of the historic moments in the growth of Fish Hoek. In 1941, the South African government declared the caves a National Monument.

For more dining pleasure, the Fish Hoek Valley has 3 shopping malls. These are: the Sun Valley Mall, which is situated along west side; the Long Beach Mall, and the Fish Hoek Shopping District towards the east side. Everything’s there: coffee shops, snack shops, take-out food joints, fine dining restaurants, bars, and retail outlets.

Aside from the water sports, residents of Fish Hoek are avid sports fans and enjoy golf, bowling, and tennis. They have their own Clovelly Country Club which is on the outskirts of Fish Hoek and known to have one of the best golf courses in the Cape Peninsula. The landscape is inspiring with lush greens, sprawling trees, and cleverly designed water holes and hazards, and an astonishing array of fauna.

The Fish Hoek authorities are now working hard in promoting Fish Hoek as an idyllic destination for medical tourism and healing. They have begun the arduous task of setting up wellness centers, gyms, spas, and even yoga, acupuncture, and massage facilities. Other places of interest are Boulders Beach (a penguin sanctuary), Pride Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary, the Imhoff’s Farm, and homey, but world-class, restaurants like the Barracudas, Excalibur, and Fish Hoek Fisheries.
